Riverfront Concert Series Continues August 17, Mac Walter & John Cronin

When you combine great music, a beautiful waterfront, and a warm summer night, it's pretty hard to go wrong....

Please join us on Tuesday, August 17 on the Custom House lawn for the second free outdoor concert of the new Washington College Riverfront Concert Series, featuring brilliant guitar duo Mac Walter & John Cronin. Lemonade and light refreshments will be provided; attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs. The series is sponsored by the C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience and hosted by the Center's program manager, Michael Buckley, host of the popular radio program, "Voices of the Chesapeake Bay."

Heavily influenced by folk luminaries such as Doc Watson, Mississippi John Hurt, and Dave Van Ronk, Mac Walter recorded three CDs with blues musician Deanna Bogart and also played with the late Danny Gatton, dubbed the “world’s greatest unknown guitarist” by Guitar Magazine. John Cronin spent 7 years touring Canada and the USA with the hugely popular Ian Tyson Band. He also toured with renowned fiddle player Vassar Clements. Walter and Cronin, who are cousins, provided back-up guitar and vocals on Chesapeake Bay folk icon Tom Wisner’s last album, "Follow on the Water." In case of inclement weather, the concert will take place in The Egg, a performance space in Hodson Hall Commons on the main Washington College campus.
